Make a difference!

Being a Class Parent  is very Rewarding !

Thank you for considering the role of Class Parent. The following is a brief role statement of what is involved. Please do not hesitate to contact the P&C or school should you require any further clarification.

Overview

Class parents play an important role in the school. They facilitate communication between students, parents, and class teachers and assist in the co-ordination of helpers for school events.

Communicate Via Email & WhatsApp Groups

Assist Teacher with Class Communication, Finding Volunteers for reading, excursions etc.

Organise class/year social events. eg: Class dinner, park play, picnic,  etc.

Co-ordinate with other class parents to organise that years P&C fundraising event (See Below)

Role Competencies:

  • Willingness to co-ordinate and organise class activities.

  • Willingness to co-ordinate helpers and liaise with P&C for school events or initiatives.

  • Willingness to have fun, be part of a fun community, and meet new people.

Role Description:

  • The role of Class Parent varies according to the individual needs of each class teacher, however it usually includes the following:

  • Confirming the P&C voluntary class contact list of parent names & details and communicating with parents should the class teacher require it.

  • Co-ordinating parent support to the class teacher. (eg: helping to find reading helpers, Excursion helpers etc).

  • Joining your years P&C Fundraising committee and organising the year groups activity.
    (see below)

  • Co-ordinating social activities for the class if desired – (eg: picnics, holiday activities, end-of-year functions) This can be done as a class or a larger group in co-ordination with other class parents.

  • Attending any Class Parent meetings. ( First P&C meeting of the year).

  • Organising a gift for the teacher's Birthday and end of year "thank you"​

  • Please note: When communicating with parents, it is recommended that blind copy or BCC, be used in emails for class distribution and we respect the right of any parents to not join the email or WhatsApp groups.

     

Year Group P&C fundraising activity:

The P&C with the help of class parents conducts fundraising events throughout the year to help provide our children with the best possible education experience.
The following list is the events allocated to each year group. Some tasks are shared to help keep the individual workload low. There are extensive notes available from previous class parents to help.

The events are the following:

Kidergarten

Colour Run: A fun run around the school with Colour, plus a BBQ and picnic afterwards.

Year 1

Mother's Day Breakfast: A Breakfast event on the Friday before Mother's Day.

Year 2

Father's Day Breakfast: A Breakfast event on the Friday before Father's Day.

Year 3

Spring Fair Co-ordination: This event is a highlight of the year, bringing the entire community together for a day filled with fun, entertainment, and fundraising.

Year 4

Readathon: Book reading event over a few weeks.

Year 5

Welcome Picnic: bringing the entire community together for an afternoon of fun.

Year 6

Gift to the School fundraising and Colour Run.

About RPS P&C

The Roseville Public School P&C is a collection of volunteers that work hard in their limited spare time to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students, and teaching staff into close co-operation; and assisting in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.
